Our Journey Begins Here
Training Wheels began as the heartbeat of a vision to serve the families of East Jordan. In 2021, our founder and original Executive Director, Danielle Poindexter, recognized a vital need for high-quality, reliable childcare in our community.
What started as a response to a local challenge quickly grew into a mission to build a village for the East Jordan area. Danielle’s passion brought together educators, parents, and neighbors to create more than just a center—we created a village for learning where every child is unique and treasured.
Our core belief centers on nurturing authentic connections.
Danielle knew that it would take more than just a building to create a sanctuary for learning—it would take the support of the entire community. With the help of dedicated local leaders, passionate families, and the people of East Jordan, that vision became a reality.

As highlighted in the Petoskey News-Review during our opening year, the demand for our mission was immediate. We opened our doors not just as a center, but as a promise to provide the essential "training wheels" of confidence and kindness that every child deserves.
In 2023, the East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce honored Training Wheels with the prestigious Angel Award. This recognition is given to those who demonstrate exceptional service, generosity, and unwavering support to our community.
For us, this award was a celebration of the "Village" we have built together. It recognizes the teachers who give their hearts daily, the donors who ensure we thrive, and the families who trust us with their children’s early years. We are deeply proud to be a cornerstone of East Jordan, serving the community that has given us so much.

Building a Heart-Led Community
We invite East Jordan families to join our nurturing community, where children are loved and celebrated. Together, we create a safe and joyful environment for all.
Today, we continue to build on the foundation Danielle and our community laid. From our four intentional classrooms to our newly expanded outdoor play spaces, every step we take is a tribute to the village that brought Training Wheels to life.
